TEAM SHERPA from Renault Trucks
What is the Sherpa Dakar?
The Sherpa was originally an impressive military vehicle developed by Renault Trucks Defense. Due to its excellent reliability and highly mobility, even under the most severe operating conditions, the Sherpa has been adapted into a civilian version for the Cape to Cape raid. In this rally version, it includes specific bodywork without armor plating. A chassis and powertrain on 4x4 military bases, as well as bucket seats with safety harnesses, have also been added. This vehicle, which is a protoype, will greet the Argentine, Chilean and international journalists during the rally stages. A real all-terrain media vehicle... and clean, thanks to a special treatment system for the gas exhaust!

Team Sherpa
During the 14 stages that make up the Dakar 2010, the Sherpa will serve as a media vehicle for Argentine, Chilean and international journalists. Aboard this impressive vehicle, they will have a special place to follow the 2010 rally. Four passengers per day will have the surprise to discover this vehicle in its civilian version specially adapted for the rally, designed originally for military use. The Renault Trucks design team has contributed substantially to preparing the bodywork, in particular with composite materials and resin parts. The result is a vehicle with specific bodywork without armor plating and adapted to the expedition. Its weight (about 8 tons) and size (5.3m long, 2.35m wide) are impressive, but its ability to ford the most difficult natural barriers, makes it truly admirable. In addition, thanks to the Euro 4/5 standards, the Sherpa is fuel-efficient…
